Neak Kru Pech Heung
Master of Khmer Classical Dance
Neak Kru Pech Heung is a master teacher of Khmer classical dance whose life has been shaped by the art form she loves and serves. Born in Cambodia, she grew up helping her grandmother sell pastries to support their family. Her path changed at age 10 when a dance teacher recognized her natural grace and talent, inviting her to formally train at Vichet Selapak School. She later continued her studies at the Royal University of Fine Arts and performed both in Cambodia and internationally—including tours in France, Japan, and India—with the late Princess Bopha Devi’s renowned dance troupe.
In 2005, Neak Kru Pech joined Angkor Dance Troupe, where she continues to teach, mentor, and perform. While working full-time as a machine operator in advanced manufacturing to support her family, she remains deeply committed to preserving Khmer performing arts. Her two daughters, now in college and high school, began dancing with ADT as young children - carrying forward the cultural lineage their mother has dedicated her life to protecting.
For Neak Kru Pech, dance is more than a skill - it is survival, pride, and purpose. She is honored to share her knowledge and experience so that Cambodian arts and identity continue to thrive in the hearts of young people in the U.S. and beyond.
