Stéphanie Khoury

Stephanie is a full-time lecturer at Tufts University, Department of Music. She graduated from the Université de Paris Ouest-Nanterre, France, and wrote her doctoral dissertation on the rural performances of the Khmer all-male theatre, Lkhon Khol. While a graduate student, Stephanie lived for five years in Cambodia and Thailand, expanding her knowledge on regional performing arts, history, and cultures. Since then, Stephanie is dedicated to engaging in collaborative research with artists and community members, and to fostering meaningful partnerships. Stephanie’s work has been supported by government, institutional, and private research grants in France, Cambodia, and the US. Her work is published in peer-reviewed journals, edited volumes, and anthologies, in both English and French.

While in France, Stephanie served as an advisory board member and the elected secretary for the Société Française d'Ethnomusicologie (2014-2017), a position in which she managed grant applications, memberships, and the association’s annual conference. In the US, Stephanie served as elected co-chair of the Crossroads Section on Difference and Representation for the Society for Ethnomusicology (2019-2024), a position in which she supported talks and publications on music and social justice. She is honored to join the Angkor Dance Troupe board of Directors and is dedicated to support ADT’s work and goals.
