Sokny Long

Sokny Long brings over two decades of experience in higher education at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where she has built a career dedicated to student success, community engagement, and inclusive leadership. She began her journey as a Youth Program Co-Advisor at the Center for Family, Work, and Community, where she advocated for young people and supported meaningful civic initiatives.


She went on to serve as the Program Coordinator for Graduate Studies at the College of Engineering, managing student recruitment and affairs. In her current role as Executive Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Sokny contributes to strategic planning and project management across high-impact initiatives.


A proud first-generation college graduate and lifelong Lowell resident, Sokny is deeply rooted in her community. She has volunteered with local organizations, cultivated lasting relationships, and drawn inspiration from the many leaders who have shaped Lowell’s civic landscape. A "triple Riverhawk," she holds a BA in Sociology, a Master’s in Community Social Psychology, and an MBA - all from UMass Lowell.


Sokny is honored to serve on the Board of Directors of the Angkor Dance Troupe and is committed to advancing its mission through collaboration, cultural pride, and leadership.
